The Rotten Harvest 2010 - Wyrd painting comp - a to coś dla miłośników Malifaux, oczywiście związane z Haloween i klimatem gry
The Rotten Harvest
With the Halloween and Harvest season right around the corner, it is once again time to kick things off with, to date, our most popular contest, The Rotten Harvest!
Round about the paint pot go. On the palette throw
royal blue and blood red. Forty-seven Days of Dread;
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and paint pot bubble.
The contest will run from September 15th through October 31st and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.
The specific rules for the contest can be found on the Wyrd Miniatures website on the forums under 'Wyrd Painting Contest: Rules and Information'. I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as folks tend to miss them for some reason and they end up misunderstanding the contest, the theme or disqualify themselves.
Due to the sheer number of people that have entered unedited photographs in the past we will no longer do any editing for you. There are many free photo resizing programs out there. Wyrd staff will attempt to notify anyone who's pictures were deleted due to size or for any reason, but can not guarantee notification.
The categories for the contest are:
Witches and Warlocks Spellcasters of all sorts, from high fantasy, modern day dabbler to the far sci-fi future. If they carry a wand, cast a spell or even have a hint of mysticism to them, this is the category for them.
Not Quite Dead Yet Still stumbling around after all the major organ functions have shut down? Have a beef with the living? This category is for the Undead, or as they like to be called 'Living Impaired'.
Things that go Bump in the Night Creatures, critters, monsters and other things that have a tendency towards anti-social behavior and prowl the night looking for victims. Caution, here be Monsters!
The Trick or the Treat This is our catch-all category as there are some miniatures that are just right for the theme but just don't seem to fall into any other category. Zombie Hunters, pumpkin characters and I'm sure several miniatures I never would have even contemplated.
The Harrowing Harvest A diorama with two or more miniatures locked in combat, or something as equally disturbing.
Wyrd Miniatures will be supplying prizes and gift certificates for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each category, except for Best of Show and Best Base or Diorama as that category has only the one winner. We'll also be offering a 'Best of Wyrd' manufacturers prize for the best Wyrd Miniatures entry, which is a $100USD gift certificate on top of any other prizes or categories you may win.

Crystal Brush Awards
http://www.crystalbrush.com/2010/10/rec … rush-2011/
CoolMiniOrNot Inc announced today the Crystal Brush Awards, which will be a painting competition held at AdeptiCon 2011 in Chicago from April 1st to 3rd 2011.
The Crystal Brush awards are a showcase for the best in miniature painting, primarily focused on fictional settings. As a competition meant to celebrate the hobby, figures from any manufacturer are welcome.
Huge cash prize
Chief highlight was the news that the top scoring miniature would receive $10,000, and unheard of sum for miniatures. 2nd and 3rd prizes were also guaranteed at $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
“This is quite a large sum of money”, said Chern Ann Ng, Director at CoolMiniOrNot. “Running CoolMiniOrNot.com since 2001 has shown us that there is a huge pool of talent out there, but global competition tends to be focused around just manufacturer sponsored and controlled events. ”
Ja sie spodziewam najwspanialszych prac;)

Dark Eldar Painting Competition
Yep. To celebrate the launch of the new Dark Eldar range on November 6th, we're running a Dark Eldar New Year Painting Competition in association with Firestorm Games.
The Dark Eldar have been such a long-awaited release that we've decided to celebrate the fact by launching our new painting competition. For all the latest on the Dark Eldar releases, you can visit our Dark Eldar Rumours thread.
In previous competitions, people have often thought twice about entering, thinking that their otherwise very decent painting will have no hope of winning the contest, the moment a Golden Demon-type painter enters. Hence, we're now running two categories. The Main category is open to anyone, while the Pro category is open to those who consider themselves as such; those who can enter Golden Demon and get away with it.
Format
* Entry Deadline: 31st December, 11:59PM GMT
* Competition Runs Between: 3rd January - 17th January
* Winners Announced: 18th January
* Categories:
- Pro Category (Consider yourself able to compete at a Golden Demon Standard)
- Main Category (Anyone else)
The Rules
Rules are simple:
* It must be a Dark Eldar miniature from the new model range. Single model, Squad, Character, Vehicle, it's up to you.
* Three Pictures to be submitted at maximum.
* One additional picture of the finished model, alongside a piece of paper with your Username written on. This is to ensure the entry is your own, and this picture will not be used in the competition.
* You should accompany your entry with your Username, along with which Category you are entering. If we deem your entry to be entered into the incorrect category, it will be moved to the correct category, potentially without notice.
The Prizes
Firestorm Games have kindly given us prizes for each category - the top three in each category will win prize money to be spent on anything you like from Firestorm's online store.
In addition, the top three in each category will receive free access to our 1st Company subscription area.
* 1st - £40 to spend at Firestorm (+1st Co)
* 2nd - £20 to spend at Firestorm (+1st Co)
* 3rd - £10 to spend at Firestorm (+1st Co)
How to Enter
Simple. You need to either Email or Private Message me, with the following:
* Pictures of your model - a maximum of three angles.
* A picture of your model alongside a piece of paper with your username written on.
* Which category you're entering
Once your entry has been received, you will receive an Email or a Private Message in response to let you know your entry meets our rules and has been accepted into the competition.
Voting
Once the competition starts, entries will be assigned a number and displayed anonymously. From there, users vote for their favourite three entries in each category, allowing us to come up with winners from each. In the event of a tie, our Forum Moderators will decide which entry deserves the place. Voting will last for two weeks.
--
And that's it! Roll on the new Dark Eldar range, and feel free to submit your entry as soon as you're happy with it!

It's that time again folks. After many pm's and comments/questions regarding the possibility of having another Painting Contest I have finally decided to start them up again. Many of you know the debacle that was the last one and my serious anger that went down because of it but enough time has passed for me to let it go and realize that you guys do deserve these contests. There will be a couple of major changes to the way the Painting contests are run:
1) we will no longer be using the poll system to determine the winner. There is no way I am getting burned on that again, nor do I wish to spend the LARGE amount of work required to determine who is/is not cheating. Now voting will be done by the staff only. We will determine the winner amongst ourselves. This unfortunately means that the staff are unable to participate in our own contests.
2) I personally will post the entries, not the actual painters. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA PM TO ME AND ME ONLY. ANY ENTRY POSTED DIRECTLY INTO THE THREAD WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! Please make sure you understand this as there will be NO exceptions. This is being done to maintain as much anonymity as possible.
THEME: The theme for this particular contest will be Single Miniature to keep it simple. This means a marine, warcaster, jack, etc, something like that. No vehicles or scenery.
PRIZES:The winner will receive £50 to spend at the Wayland Games shop.
Now for the rules:
Heresy Online Painting Contest Rules
1 - Final mini pics only. Wips can go in the ongoing projects or Modelling and Painting section.
2 - Minis can be as fully converted/unconverted as desired.
3 - This Painting contest will last for a total of 3 months, ending on March 31st.
4 - Minis do not need to be newly painted for this. They may be ones you have already done or even displayed on the other forums. What mini you use is up to you. This includes manufacturer as well. This is not a GW only thing so feel free to throw in minis from Privateer, Rackham, etc.
5 - Only one entry person and the entry MUST be painted by that person.
6 - One mini per entry. Dioramas, squads, etc, are not allowed.
7 - One picture of the miniature held in front of your monitor with Heresy Online showing is required as proof that this is in fact your miniature. If you are unable to take the proof pic, your mini will be disqualified.
8 - ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA PM TO ME AND ME ONLY. ANY ENTRY POSTED DIRECTLY INTO THE THREAD WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! Please make sure you understand this as there will be NO exceptions.
9 - DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS HERE IN THE THREAD!!! If you have a question you need answered, send me a private message. We want to keep the thread as uncluttered as possible to show of the minis.
10 - Also please send me direct links only not attachments and no more than 4 pics per entry, not including the proof pic. We do no need 15-20 pics of the same model.
Any mini is acceptable for this contest be it a single marine or a titan, there is no limitation to the entries as far as a theme goes. Also, keep in mind that this is a painting contest, not a conversion contest and as such it is the paint job we will be voting on, NOT the super bad ass conversion you have done. With all that said, good luck to all who wish to enter and let's get those models posted!
Games Workshop (the people who have all your money)
Also Games Workshop Stores.
You'll find the thread on the forums at the URL beneath.

The Painted Dragon's official New Year competition
Start date - Monday 3rd January 2011
End date - Thursday 31st March 2011
Theme - Dragon's
As this is the first official competition for The Painted Dragon's new website we have decided that the theme should be Dragon's but don't worry this is the only stipulation, the rest is entirely up to you. You can enter anything from a single miniature to a fully themed diorama.
Rules
1: The competition is for any kind of entry, fully painted with a finished bases. How scenic the base is is up to you, but it's the miniatures themselves being judged so stay focused! No 'weight' will be given to the size of the chosen miniature - human sized, monster sized, gigantic sized... they're all the same as far as competition is concerned.
2: The submitted entry can be from any range of miniatures/kits or can be something scratch built/sculpted.
3: The submitted entry/entries MUST be NEW paintjobs that HAS NOT been seen online before and HAS NOT previously been entered into any other competition.
4: Entries should be submitted via the Entry Thread. Images should be supplied as RGB .jpg files UNDER 500k in size and MUST show both FRONT and BACK views of the miniatures. You can use montage / detail shots in your submitted image, but bear in mind that sometimes less is more.
5: An entrant can submit multiple figures for inclusion in the competition, but no individual figure may be entered more than once.
6: This should go without saying, but the entry MUST be the work of the submitter - no 'borrowing' allowed.
7: Your finished image must be received no later than 11.59pm on Thursday 31st March 2011. Please note that your entry is considered FINAL once submitted - no 'revised' images will be accepted, so make sure your photography counts.
8: NO PHOTOSHOP POST WORK! You may use editing software to crop your pictures, make montages and to address contrast / brightness and that's fine but - no embellishing.
9: Conversions are fine - but again, as with the earlier comment about scenic bases, it's the quality of the painting that counts, not the sculpting.
Please note that by submiting images of your painted miniatures you are giving your consent for these images to be republished both on and offline for promotional purposes only.
Prize
There will be a prize pot of £50 to the winner to spend on miniatures and models of their choice from any manufacturer.
There will also be the Golden Dragon trophy up for grabs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Examples
Here are a few examples of the kind of entries we are looking for. The obvious choice is a Dragon model but as we have said it really is open to anything.
Space Marine with a Dragon emblem as the chapter icon.
A Dwarf Dragon Slayer
A model with a dragon depicted on it's clothing, maybe a Dragon hide cloak.
(please note that cash will not be given, only the cash equivalent of miniatures)

This thread will be locked February 14th, 2011 (1 minute after midnight, CST). Our staff will pick their favorite entries, then you guys will be able to vote on those favorites. And three lucky people will get a lovely gift certificate.

Previously posted stuff is fair game. This is a friendly contest.
The certificates will be redeemable through the Reaper Online Store.
Reaper can clarify and amend rules at will.
Go ahead and have your friends vote, but many votes from the same IP address will likely be ignored. Especially if your piece isn't that great. No peeing in the pool!
